UAL Future Learn- Fashion and Sustainability: Understanding Luxury Fashion in a Changing World – August 2020 I successfully completed the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London and Kering online course in Fashion and Sustainability. This course was co-created by industry and academia allowing myself to link practise with theory. Sustainability in Practice Certificate – February 2020 Specialising in clothing. NTU Student Rep- September 2019- Present Year 2 and 3 Academic Student Representative for Fashion Design. Young Fashion Designer Competition I won the Young Fashion Designer UK (Midlands) Competition 2015, where I presented a jacket which I made for my GCSE Textiles coursework. RGSW Sixth Form Textile Scholarship I was a textiles scholar during sixth form and helped out younger years with their textile projects. Work History Palmer Harding- June - September 2020 I completed a Studio/Atelier Work Placement at Palmer Harding, where I developed my skills in a range of areas, but primarily focussed on design, pattern cutting and sewing. I also assisted in sustainable design research and development for the company. Honey Beadz- May 2020- present During the period of isolation due to COVID-19 I set up a business making sustainable handmade beaded accessories. Seamsstress – June- August 2019 I worked as a full-time seamstress at Garden Leisure Furniture where I developed my manufacturing skills greatly. Intu - April 2018 I worked for one week at Intu interior design company and shadowed the two head designers to see first hand what it takes to put together a professional mood board and interior designs which are to be presented to clients. I also helped with the practical side of altering existing products to make them bespoke for their clients. Workaseason - December 2017- April 2018 I worked in Val Thorens in France as a chalet host where I worked independently cooking, cleaning and hosting a chalet for 8 people. I am proud to say my chalet was ranked 2nd best chalet in France for Inghams Chalets based on client feedback forms. Harvey Nichols - September 2017 to October 2017 I spent two months working in the Harvey Nichols head office alongside the press and marketing team. I was lucky enough to be involved with the launch of “Fenty” beauty products by Rihanna, I got to see how a huge successful launch is supposed to be conducted. Stephanie Wood – September 2016 Stephanie Wood solely handmakes all of her bespoke leather goods with meticulous finishes and details. I had the opportunity to watch and learn the processes off of creating these goods and then created a handbag of my own, using her facilities. Habitat - October 2015 I spent two weeks working in the design and buying departments, getting an understanding of what it takes to undertake these roles in large companies. I assisted in choosing which products to put on sale when they were produced in slightly different ways by different manufacturers and oversaw the selection of colour palettes. Education Nottingham Trent University - September 2018 – Current I am currently in my final year of university studying Fashion Design. Royal Grammar School Worcester - 2010 – 2017 A Levels - Mathematics A, Economics A, Textiles B Extended Learning Project- Design and manufacture two evening dresses for Spring/Summer 2017. GCSE’s - 10 grades A*-B, including Maths and English language Sport Nottingham Trent University Lacrosse. Represented school First Team Netball, Hockey and Rounders. Worcestershire County U16 Netball team. |
